National Medicare Education Week is here and Medicare beneficiaries may be able to get more insight about what Medicare options are best for them.
The education week began on Saturday, Sept. 15 and ends on Sunday, Sept. 21. The week was established in 2012 by United Healthcare, a health, life and supplemental insurance provider, as a program through its Medicare Made Clear initiative, which aims to make Medicare easier to understand.
According to www.medicaremadeclear.com , any forums that are hosted during the educational week are designed to help those seeking more knowledge and answer common Medicare questions like these:
The education week precedes the Annual Enrollment Period for Medicare, which is Oct. 15- Dec. 7. The AEP period is when Medicare beneficiaries may enroll or change a Medicare plan.
Currently, 44 million beneficiaries – some 15 percent of the U.S. population – are enrolled in the Medicare program. Enrollment is expected to rise to 79 million by 2030. Only one in 10 beneficiaries relies solely on the Medicare program for health care coverage, according to www.aarp.org .
