News in brief: Dale District Community meeting, Medicare seminar, Prince George tree lighting

Community meeting

CHESTERFIELD — Jim Holland, Dale District Supervisor and Michael Jackson, Dale District Planning Commissioner will host a Dale District community meeting on Monday, Nov. 26, 7 p.m., at the County’s Central Library meeting room, 7051 Lucy Corr Boulevard.

Staff from the planning department will be speaking. Residents are invited to come and learn more about the County’s Comprehensive Plan update.

Medicare seminar

STONY CREEK — The Community Coalition of Sussex, VA, will host a Medicare Informational Seminar on Saturday, Dec. 1, starting at 9 a.m., at the Hunting Quarter Baptist Church, 16166 Hunting Quarter Road.

Special guest will be Joseph Gregory of Elite Medicare Specialist (EMS). Gregory and his representatives will speak about the changes in Medicare and  Medicaid that the public may be unaware of. They will also provide guidance on retirement planning, life insurance and other health plan options, such as dental, vision and hospital plans at no cost, among other topics.

Attendees may be able to improve their benefits while at the meeting. Those attending are asked to bring their insurance and medical information with them. Privacy will be respected.

This seminar is open to anyone, however, the Coalition “strongly urge” senior citizens to attend.

Tree lighting

PRINCE GEORGE — Prince George County’s annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held Wednesday, Nov. 28,on the PG Regional Heritage Center Lawn, 6406 Courthouse Road, beginning at 7 p.m.
