Fall Senior Series in Burnsville

Prince of Peace in Burnsville is hosting a Fall Senior Series 1-2:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Oct. 2-23, in room 200 of the Christian Life Center building.

Oct. 2: Know the 10 Signs of Alzheimer’s Disease, presented by the Alzheimer’s Association. If you or someone you know is experiencing memory loss or behavioral changes, it’s time to learn the facts. Early detection of Alzheimer’s disease gives people a chance to begin drug therapy, enroll in clinical studies and plan for the future.

Oct. 9: Minnesota Elder Law: Will, Trusts and Estate Planning. Mark Anderson, elder law attorney at Schmitz, Schmidt & Anderson P.A., will present information about seniors and aging with regard to estate planning, trusts and wills.

Oct. 16: Deciding to Move: Where to Start and How to Make It Manageable. Part I: Transition Steps for Successful Aging. Cari Waller, senior care consultant at Care Patrol, will address common misconceptions and the five areas of consideration when selecting senior housing or services. Part II: Making Room For Your New Life. Jill Freeman, senior move specialist and sorter at Gentle Transitions, will present educational tips to help those considering an upcoming move or who would like to de-clutter for the future.

Oct. 23: Life’s Journey to Health or Illness with Eric Trehus, MD. He will present “How what we eat or do affects the path to health or illness.” It is important to understand how these lifestyle choices can alter immunity, causing inflammation, the root cause of disease. This talk will sort through pieces of information and misinformation to assist in a journey to better health.

Silver Swans ballet class in Lakeville

DanceWorks, Lakeville, is starting a new Silver Swans eight-week session for adults 55 and older. The class runs 9:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesdays, Sept. 26-Nov. 4.

Silver Swans is a newly launched ballet program by the Royal Academy of Dance. Classes are taught by trained licensees.

Designed for older learners, this gentle ballet-based class helps improve mobility and energy level. Participants will keep fit and enjoy moving with confidence in a friendly group environment. No prior dance experience is required.

The first class is complimentary. The eight-week session costs $70. Leanne Noonan is the instructor. To register, contact DanceWorks Performing Arts Center at 952-432-7123.
